Abstract
Describes the fossil fish Ptycholepis bollensis, on the basis of material from upper Liassic localities of Yonne (France) and Wuerttemberg (Germany), pointing out the evolution of the jaw and reduction of the preoperculum. Relationships with the holosteans and the paleoniscids, particularly the Triassic paleoniscid Boreosomus, are discussed.
