Between October 1954 and November 1955, cylindrical structures were observed to develop in a sand bank built up in the Loire estuary, France. The structures appear to be analogous to cylindrical structures of Paleozoic and other consolidated rocks, and therefore suggest that organisms may have played a role in the formation of the fossil structures.
