Abstract
Sphenophyllum impressions in Carboniferous sandstones of the Decazeville coal basin, France, are identified as S. Costae. The excellent state of preservation reveals details of venation not visible in the original specimens, and also shows that S. alatifolium is essentially the same as. S. costae and should be attached to that species.
