Abstract

Describes the structure of the Durance basin between Queyrieres and Guillestre, Hautes-Alpes, France, which consists of Subbrainconnais and outer Brianconnais nappes. Each successive stratigraphic and paleogeographic unit corresponds to a clearly defined structural unit. The terms Subbrianconnais and Brianconnais are used in a somewhat different sense from their original definitions; in this interpretation, the Brianconnais zone includes a continuous pelagic marine series from Malm (Jurassic) to Eocene.
