Most of the 11 upper Cretaceous ammonites in the d'Orbigny collection, for which no descriptions were published, correspond to forms since described by others, but two seem to represent new forms which should be preserved: Ammonites combesi and A. canthus, belonging to the genera Mammites and Prionotropis, respectively. A related species, P. turoniensis n. sp. from the Touraine region, France, is described from a specimen in the Peron collection.
