Sandstones of Nubian facies have been encountered in the upper Turonian (Cretaceous) of the northern Negeb region, southern Israel, interbedded with marine limestones. These beds, representing the highest zone in which this facies has been found, are identical with Paleozoic and lower Mesozoic Nubian sandstones, and are likewise marine in origin. The source of the clastic material probably lay to the west.
