Abstract

A zone of manganese ore of potential economic value occurs in Birremian (Precambrian) deposits of the central part of the Ivory Coast region, French West Africa. The ore was probably formed by transformation of manganiferous muds to gondites during intense metamorphic and tectonic activity at the end of the Birremian.
