Abstract

The hilly terrain of the Sainte-Marie-de-Gosse area, Landes, France, previously mapped as an extensive outcrop of Keuper (Triassic) marls, is actually a lower Eocene massif. Keuper beds accompanied by upper Senonian (Cretaceous) strata occur in the core of the massif, and are exposed in places.
