Abstract

Two distinct series are distinguished in the continental formations of central Niger and upper Dahomey, French West Africa, previously generally considered a homogeneous Mio-Pliocene series of beds. One is equivalent to the Illo group (Cretaceous), the other to the Gwandu group (post-Eocene) of northern Nigeria.
