Abstract

Contrary to published conclusions which hold that basalts intercalated in Permo-Triassic and lower Liassic formations of Morocco all represent an enormous sill which was emplaced in post-Cretaceous time, it is concluded that the basalts in the Permo-Triassic are bedded deposits representing surface and, in some cases, submarine extrusions.
