Abstract

Discusses lateral variations in thickness and facies of the Tertiary gypsum deposits of the Paris basin, France, and concludes that the thinning of the beds to the west may be considered due to mechanical weathering, solution processes, and a diminution in the rate of deposition rather than primarily to subsidence.
