Abstract

Describes the different modes of occurrence of calcareous spheres in Carboniferous limestone of Avesnois, Nord, France. Those with a homogeneous granular structure and those with radial canals are assigned to Calcisphaera canaliculata n.sp., those with concentric form to C. cancellata Williamson, and those with three distinct rings to C. polyderma n.sp.
