Traces of eolian action in Auversian (Tertiary) sands of the Paris basin, France. Both microscopic and granulometric analyses of Auversian sands from several localities reveal evidence of wind action on the grains. The hypothesis is suggested that some Auversian sandstones were formed during a period of emergence by consolidation of sand grains in the crests of dunes.
