Abstract

Catastrophism is back again into the biogeosciences since the recent hypotheses regarding the mass extinctions but its use has led to some immoderate language. So it would be better to use, according to H. Tintant, the word event. Catastrophe and catastrophism have an anthropocentric echo which doesn’t fit in with the scientific vocabulary.
