Abstract
The Tyrrhenian coastal calcarenites of the Malia area (northern Crete) are studied by an original method of correlation, derived from C. Durlet's modified method, using the succession of diagenetic stages as sequences. This method makes it possible to correlate sedimentary units which are different in origin (marine, fluviatile, aeolian) and previously difficult to be linked on the basis of their palaeontological or textural indices. Following this method, different deposits have been attributed to the same marine Tyrrhenian time.
