Abstract
The analysis of stratigraphic data along with various other palaeobathymetric indicators allows us to construct a curve of relative sea level rise since 6,500 B.P. This curve is compared with other recent results from the French Mediterranean. This work indicates two periods of sea level rise interrupted by a period of slower sea level rise, followed by a final period of sea level rise which took place at an enhanced rate. Also, the existence of archaeological sites below the present sea-level in the Marseilles area indicates that the eastern part of the delta is subsiding.
