This special volume celebrates the 20th anniversary meeting of the International Workshop on Plant Taphonomy, which was held on March 25–27, 2011 (see group photo). To commemorate this occasion, Carole Gee and Lutz Kunzmann, Special Issue Associate Editors for this volume of PALAIOS, have brought together six papers on plant taphonomy, most of which were presented at the meeting in Dresden, Germany.
