Braissant and Verrecchia's discussion of our paper on microbial biscuits of vaterite in Lake Issyk-Kul (Republic of Kyrgyzstan) clearly contributes to a better understanding of the complexity of anhydrous and unstable vaterite. They support the role of bacteria in the formation of vaterite in the sediments of Lake Issyk-Kul using bacterial cultures in a media doped by calcium acetate and calcium citrate. Their results seem to prove that the high production of carbohydrates and proteins in the bacterial mucilaginous product of the X. Autotrophius bacteria contributes to vaterite formation whereas other experimental cultures carried out with bacteria producing less polysaccarides...
