Abstract

Sediment peels of cross-bedded fluvial sand have considerable relief. In some cases foreset laminae extend several centimeters from the peel face. Dip direction measurements of these cross-beds clearly reflect the overall flow pattern observed in the field. Reproducibility of cross-bedding measurements is demonstrated by the similarity of data collected by five operators.
