Abstract
A rapid technique for assessing shingle particle form in the field is described. Particle shape (flatness/sphericity) and roundness (roundness/angularity) are determined separately with reference to a visual matrix of 6 categories each. The results are plotted directly on a bivariate scattergram. The results compare favorably with Cailleux's indices for environmental differentiation of particles.
