Abstract

Coarse grained arkoses belonging to the Lower Kaladgis (Precambrian) are exposed around Jamkhandi, and consist of quartz and feldspar in almost equal proportions. The majority of these feldspars, which are microcline, possess authigenic overgrowths on detrital cores. These overgrowths are supposed to have been formed duirng diagenesis and the source material appears to have been derived from the pink feldspar veins of the basement granites.
