Carbonate rocks of early and middle Paleozoic age in northwestern Wyoming include limestone and dolomite of many textures. Insoluble residues are relatively low in these carbonate rocks. Depositional environments varied from shallow water to tidal shelf during Cambrian time, near shore in Devonian time, and a stable shelf during most of Mississippian time.
