Abstract

Parameters such as sand-body geometry, sorting, sediment maturity, fabric, and statistical analyses and their usefulness in environmental interpretation are discussed and applied in determination of the petrogenesis of the Arlington bar. The main cross-bedded sand body is attributed to wave and longshore currents; channel fill of sand, shale, and shale breccia in the upper part of the bar may have been formed by longshore currents. Sediment sources are identified.
