Grain size and bedding structures in alluvial Cretaceous formations in Montana reflect sequential velocity changes in stream flow which ranged from shooting flow to tranquil flow. Sediment sequence from bottom to top includes planar bedded basal conglomerates, cross-stratified sandstone, and ripple-drift laminated fine-grained sandstones and sandy siltstone.
