The grain size distributions of samples of artificially crushed quartz, granite scree, pumiceous lapilli, vitric tuff, nuee-ardente, laharic breccia, and glacial till show various degrees of goodness of fit to Rosin's distribution of sizes of crushed material. Rosin's-law probability paper, calculation of linear regression, and statistical tests for linearity form the basis for a study carried out by a computer executing the described FORTRAN program. It is proposed that Rosin's distribution may be a more appropriate basis for comparison of some particle size distributions than the log-normal distribution.
