Abstract

The banded calcite mudstone occurs in three types of cavities, two of which formed as part of the reef beds of the lower Carboniferous knolls, probably by a filter mechanism that operated penecontemporaneously with deposition of the so-called normal reef sediment. The third type of cavity consists of extensive crevices developed as a reult of increased load.
