The upper Carboniferous Talchir boulder bed and the striated pavement on which it rests are exposed at Irai, near Chanda, central India. Both are described in detail, and a northerly direction of movement of the eroding ice is deduced from observable structures. Interpretations other than a glacial origin for the pavement and the boulder bed are also noted.
