Sediments from Lake Florence, one of the many soft water lakes of central Florida (Orange County), are described in detail. It is noted that sediments from several other soft water lakes of the same region are essentially of similar character. Sources of the sediments are examined and speculations relating to the origin of the lake basins and the times of their becoming sites of lakes are made. Deposition is shown to have been extremely slow and the organic matter is suggested to have reached an advanced stage of decomposition.
