Abstract

Stylolites in Muschelkalk (Triassic) and Malm (Jurassic) limestones of Wuerttemberg and Baden, Germany, were probably formed by subaqueous solution of calcareous muds during sedimentation rather than by pressure-solution or contraction-pressure processes operating after consolidation of the rocks.
