Abstract

Field and petrographic studies of sandstones of the Dakota group from the Colorado Front Range show distinct variations in the type and degree of cementation. These variations occur not only vertically in the section but also laterally. The results of investigations of this subject are presented, including discussions of the types, age-relations, and derivation of cementing materials, variations in degree of cementation, and the importance of the "Riecke principle" in the cementation of sandstones.
