Abstract

Pre-Cambrian rocks in the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains consist chiefly of granites, gneisses, and schists. Detritals released by weathering of these source rocks were studied for mineral content and general properties as sediments. Most of the minerals contain inclusions and have physical and optical properties that permit determination of source rocks.
