Abstract
Intrusive rock, alaskite, in Capitan Mountain is reduced to fragments under semi-arid conditions and at altitudes above 7,000 feet. Materials at the time of disintegration are arkosic: some accumulate on the alaskite but most are deposited at lower levels in the piedmont. Mineral content of the sediments in order to abundance are quartz, feldspars, magnetite, staurolite, hornblende, anatase and andalusite. Most of the minerals have undergone some degree of alteration.
