The Bondholder district is located within the central San Juan volcanic province (Figure 1), Saguache County, Colorado, USA. The world-class Creede district lies approximately 10 km south-southeast of the Bondholder district, and the two districts share a major north-northwest-trending fracture system that hosts ore along its length. Substantial mine workings, dating back to 1887 (Steven and Bieniewski, 1977), arc present in the district, and some mine development work has continued to as recently as 1970 (John Jackson, personal communication).
