Abstract
Temperatures based on the curve for the composition of pyrrhotite in equilibrium with pyrite show considerable variation from one level to another and do not show systematic change with depth. This contradicts results of K. Kameswara Rao, whose measurements may have included some pyrrhotite not in equilibrium with pyrite.
