Sir:Mathur et al. (2002) present data on the systematics of Re-Os isotopes at La Candelaria and a number of other deposits in the Cretaceous iron belt of Chile. The data provide a new and important confirmation of the idea that the La Candelaria ores are related to nearby igneous rocks. They have also demonstrated that additional work on this isotopic system has the potential to provide useful information on ore genesis.
