Sir: We welcome the opportunity to respond to Cawthorn’s discussion of our paper on magma mixing and sulfide saturation at Bushveld (Li et al., 2001). In this paper, we produced for the first time an equation and a semiquantitative diagram to estimate S solubilities of basaltic magmas. Despite a small error, corrected in the erratum (Li et al., 2001b) and in Li et al. (2001c), these stand, and we see this as our major contribution.
