Stratiform deposits of zinc-lead-copper or zinc and zinc-lead veins. Both types of mineralization are hosted by the mainly submarine volcanic upper Coyhaique Formation of Jurassic-Cretaceous age, which has been divided into three series. The stratigraphic equivalence of mantos at Concordia (Zn-Pn-Cu), Estatus (Zn), and San Antonio (Zn-Pb-Cu) is shown by tracing sedimentary units despite changes in volcanic lithologies. The ore is of volcanogenic origin. The exhalative system, which was still active at Concordia after the deposition of the uppermost base metal sulfide zone, deposited pyrrhotite mineralization within the overlying lutite.--Modified journal abstract.
