Pt, Pd, and Rh analyses for 34 whole-rock samples and concentrates from the La Perouse Layered Gabbro in Alaska show that concentrations of these elements are normal for sulfide melts which give rise to Ni-Cu ores. Average Pt + Pd + Rh concentrations are 0.18 ppm in ultramarie and gabbroic rocks and 1.2 to 1.5 ppm in massive sulfide and flotation concentrates. Recovery of Pt, Pd, and Rh could have substantial impact on mining economics.
