Abstract

The galena-barite ores are bedded deposits in the basal part of an incompletely dolomitized zone of the Carboniferous Limestone, above an unaltered zone of the same limestone. Crystals of galena and barite are believed to have accumulated as gravitational layers interstratified with dolomite-crystal sand layers in solution cavities. Further solution formed collapse breccias of the bedded ore. Lack of ore in unaltered limestone below suggests lateral or downward movement of solutions.
