One hundred nine British Columbia molybdenite occurrences are arranged into deposit types characterized by (1) quartz veins and lenses, (2) FRACTURES AND SHEARS? (3) disseminations, (4) contact metasomatism, and (5) brecciation. The dependence of these deposit-types on rock-type is tested by means of chi-square enumeration statistics, and it is determined that deposit-type is a function of rock-type. It is concluded that molybdenite deposition is principally controlled by an igneous process and/or a property of igneous rocks.
