Abstract

Sulfur in ore deposits from igneous rocks derived from mantle should have isotopic composition of meteorite sulfur. This does not give a unique solution, because under some conditions volcanic, sedimentary, and biogenic sulfur may also have this composition. Where ore deposits and acid intrusives have sulfur of similar isotopic composition, materially different from that of meteorites, a relationship is suggested. No relationship is apparent between productivity of intrusives or kind of associated mineralization.
