Abstract
This area, on the fringe of the Tintic district, shows rough zoning of five types of alteration: dolomitic, argillic, jasperoid, calcitic and metallization. The types resemble those described by Lovering and coworkers for the Tintic district, but the intensity of alteration only locally equals that of the main district, and overall intensity decreases northward. Known ore bodies are small and occur in altered areas. The ore-producing formations of the main district are likewise most susceptible to fringe zone alteration, which makes study of alteration patterns a useful exploration guide.
