Abstract
Native nickel-iron as awaruite, souesite, josephinite occurs in serpentinized peridotites belonging to Alpine orogeny. New localities for the mineral are listed, the diagnostic properties enumerated and the paragenetic sequence as suggested by the ore microscopic methods is given. The mineral or mineral group is suggested to have originated by reduction of the nickel-bearing silicates or sulfides during serpentinization of the peridotites.
