Abstract

Drill hole results from the Algom-Quirke property on the N. limb of the Blind River syncline [Ontario] show that Th-U ratios vary between partly overlapping ore sheets in a manner that cannot be caused by hydrothermal activity. Bulk mine samples show gross regional variation and the details of ratio variation along the length of the Stanrock ore sheet where the ratio, ThO 2 /U 3 O 8 , increases in a southerly direction, and the percentage of extractable Th decreases. The variations reported support a syngenetic origin for U and Th at Blind River and the author believes the original materials to have been detrital.
