Abstract

Some relationships between the composition of aqueous solutions and the composition of solids precipitated from them are reviewed. It is then shown that, when certain conditions are fulfilled, the distribution of minor elements in vein minerals could be used to define the temperature, pressure, and chemical composition of the fluid from which precipitation took place. The possible application of this thesis to ore deposits of the Tri-State type is discussed.
