A preliminary investigation indicates that ratios of stable sulfur isotopes of bedded copper ores of Northern Rhodesia fall within the range established for magmatic, pegmatitic, and hydrothermal sulfides, but are also within the range reported for sulfur dioxide of biogenic origin, and therefore do not provide conclusive evidence for either a hydrothermal epigenetic or a biogenic syngenetic mode of origin for the sulfide ores.
