Abstract

On the Colorado Plateau, uranium mineralization has been found in 32 sedimentary units that range in age from Pennsylvanian to Tertiary, and in a Tertiary monzonite porphyry. Ore has been produced from 22 of these units. Host rocks represent all major sedimentary environments except glacial. The wide variation in age and depositional environments of the host rocks suggests an epigenetic origin for uranium ore on the Colorado Plateau.
