Abstract

A manganese ore province is indicated by sedimentary manganese deposits along the Mogollon Rim, Arizona. The deposits consist of hard black manganese-oxide mineral fragments in the residual soil and clay mantle, of fracture-filled veins and bedded replacement in the top of the Coconino Sandstone country rock, and of associated derived colluvial material.
