Abstract

An unusual occurrence of native gold enclosed in ice is described. Two types of gold were observed--foil gold and sponge gold. The foil gold occurred within the ice, and the sponge gold was found as incrustations on calcite and pyrite crystals. The gold is thought to have been deposited from migrating solutions which may have leached an adjoining ore shoot of some of its gold values.
