Abstract

The Sweetwater residual barite deposits are underlain by irregular fissure-veins in Beekmantown (Knox) dolomite. The veins are associated with dolomitized limestone. Calcite, pyrite, fluorite, and barite are the only common minerals of these deposits and were deposited in that order. Deposition from ascending thermal waters is indicated.
